Is Sending out Christmas Cards an Ethical Blunder?

‘Tis the season of giving and many companies will opt to show their gratitude to partners, vendors, employees, and clients by sending out Christmas cards this year (as they’ve likely done in years past).  But in a growing global economy populated by people of all cultures and religious backgrounds, sending out holiday-centric cards could end up being a blunder of massive proportions.  Not only is it a slight to those who don’t observe the holiday of Christmas (or aren’t a part of the religion from whence it came), it may also prompt ethical questions.  For example, why would a company want to recognize one holiday (or religious observance) with a show of support while completely ignoring others?  In short, this type of behavior could be viewed as favoritism or even prejudice, a position that no company wants to find itself in. “Champions of the Earth” Recognizes Green Leadership

Nations across the globe continue to join the fight against global warming, rampant pollution, deforestation, and a number of other crises that are affecting the state of our planet (and our odds of continued survival).  But in many cases, it comes down to a single voice crying out for change.  Champions of the Earth is an arm of the United Nations Environment Programme that searches for global leaders in green economy who are going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our planet is cleaner and greener when they leave it than when they arrived.  And an annual award ceremony is held to recognize these hard-working individuals and laud their efforts on behalf of the Earth and the life it supports. The Center for Responsible Lending: Helping Homeowners or Heading for Disaster?

You probably wish that there had been a Center for Responsible Lending in existence BEFORE the mortgage lending crisis so that the resulting crash in the international market could have been avoided.  Bad news: this “non-profit” organization was actually formed in 2002, with branches in California and North Carolina.  And although it is their commendable mission to help low-income families attain the dream of home ownership, their highly funded lobbying may be partially to blame for the economic collapse heard round the world.  And if they aren’t reined in, they may continue to generate financial troubles not only in their native United States, but throughout the world.
